Horsemanship for beginners: 3-step program

by howdy9533

Since the update of the website and the Ronan Horsemanship YouTube channel, I keep wondering if I should leave my old footage of horsemanship for beginners. In the end, I chose to do so.

Why? Because I think there are too many people pretending to be expert horsemen and horsewomen, born in a stable, riding since their 18 months old, and showing how good they are…

Used to look for horsemanship for beginners too

Being a regular guy who discovered natural horsemanship after hitting his 32nd birthday, and who was initially quite impressed by horses, I thought I had to leave the old videos to show how it started. So, you will see a mix of recent and old videos as I will show a beginner version of the exercises, and a more advanced one for those who already have practised natural horsemanship. I hope every one of you will find something to learn in this program.

Ronan Horsemanship program is composed of three parts:

Groundwork Fundamentals

That chapter is made of three exercises: Desensitizing, Backing Up, and Lunging. They are the fundamental structure on which you will build your horsemanship from the ground to the saddle. These exercises will help you teach the horse to respect your safety bubble, and in the meantime they will learn to trust you.

Groundwork Foundations

The second part of the program will cover more advanced exercises. I consider that you have established a gentle and respectful leadership on your horse, and you are ready to work on lightness and feel. The six exercises will help you soften your horse, and work more on mental cues that physical ones.

Under Saddle

The third part of the program is a never ending story. I propose six exercises in my program to put you and your horse on the right track. You will learn how to use your legs to control direction, how to use you balance to control speed and stop, how to collect your horse, and much more.

I hope you will enjoy all this. Feel free to contact me if you have questions.

Enjoy your ride!
